Ivan came to my house to help free us from the grip of the evil Spider Queen and her uncountable horde of web spinning warriors--all of whom are generational enemies of my wife and seek her blood with a zealous fervent unseen in normal times.He began simply enough, by spraying the outside of our home, creating a barrier--which I can only assume is powered by alchemy and mage craft--that solidly walled off the Spider Queen from calling reinforcements from outside of the battlefield that my formerly peaceful home has become.Then it was time for the garage. While standing behind a nearby car from the street, I activated my garage remote while, like Captain America in the portals scene in Avengers Endgame, Ivan stood in front of the door, prepared, if necessary, to stand alone against the whirlwind of arachnid fury certain to pour forth from the garage in a rage filled tsunami of fangs and chitin.Clunk!The garage door came fully open and Ivan leapt forward with nothing but his tank and a handy wand to face the darkness. I may have imagined it, but I swear I heard a rising sibilant hiss come from the occupants using my garage as a staging area.I can't describe what happened next in any way that would do it justice. It was like the OK Corral mixed with Aliens 2 and a hint of the final stand at the black gates in LOTR. I will never forget some of the images seared into my mind during that hour. I just know that there may be a day when the courage of man fails, but it WAS NOT this day!When all was said and done, Ivan strode out of my garage while wiping a bead of sweat from his brow."You're service," he began with one eyebrow raised, "is completed."He nodded with a grim smile, jumped into his van and drove into the sunset, a tired gleam of accomplishment shining in his eyes.It wasn't until I was standing amongst the Spider Queen's annihilated forces in a garage--now cleared of their influence--that I wondered aloud...."How did he drive off into the sunset at 9am?"
